Gorgon’s South Korea bid

Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) issued an invitation for bids in August for to supply the company with LNG. It is believed Gorgon will be looking to supply at least part, if not all, of the LNG required.

Meanwhile, Federal Opposition Leader Mark Latham issued a campaign pledge to return $75 million per year from Gorgon to the Western Australian government, an idea rejected six months ago by Prime Minister John Howard.

The money, which will come from the project’s commonwealth resource rent tax, will be deposited in a WA Resources Infrastructure Fund, to be administered by the Commonwealth and State governments.
